I agree that if we have to build on green belt land then it is paramount that the best use of the land is made.  Ingress Abbey estate in Greenhithe proves that high density housing can be built in a humanistic way.  However we are all aware when high density housing goes wrong – too narrow roads, filled up with on-street parking.  I hope the council will look at density in a holistic way and not in just a crude houses per hectare measure.

To take the case of Downs Valley, Hartley where development is proposed on the adjoining fields.  The council needs to make sure that, if it is built, it doesn’t cause the surrounding roads to be filled with on-street parking because there is inadequate space on the new estate, which is detrimental to amenity.
