We should not be building on areas of AONB and the Green Belt, which was set out in the 2017 Conservative Manifesto  where they pledged to "

  • Maintain the existing strong protections on designated land like the Green Belt, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Michael Fallon has subsequently written to the Government to take this into consideration within Sevenoaks where the target put on the council is unrealistic in an are that is majority Green belt and AONB

I do not believe that the exceptional circumstances rule should be used. I live in Westerham, and Squerryes Court developments are trying to use this argument to build 600+ houses which they will benefit from by millions of pounds  and are trying to bring the council on board by offering to pay for a relief road, which will cause chaos and effect the local environment for many years.  The town will also suffer as the majority of traffic will be diverted, and so no one will be using the local shopping centre.

As stated above, existing settlements and previously developed land would be the best for our community, and areas which have the infrastructure e.g. trains and more than the one bus an hour to Sevenoaks we currently have in Westerham.
