There should be a section in the executive summary on the effects the proposals will have on the parking and usage of cars and other vehicles in the district. Page 5 says the Government has instructed that Sevenoaks should build 14,000 homes Does this mean that there will be about 30,000 more cars in the district? Unfortunately, no evaluation seems to have been made of the impact of the additional use of cars and other vehicles for the planning period.

This is a major omission

Already numerous existing homes in Hartley have had their front gardens converted into hard standing for parking. Is this widespread in the district? The additional use of cars by residents of existing homes must also be included in the planning process. The paving of front gardens will have an increasing impact with rain water run off adding to the periodic flash flooding of the roads in and around Hartley after heavy rain. Are there any planning restrictions or guidance on this matter?

Each site (for example MX52) was evaluated by a number of factors such as “Biodiversity and Geodiversity” and “Landscape and Historic Environment”. However the section on “Transportation” included only “proximity to a train station”,” proximity to a bus stop” and “proximity to a cycle route”. No mention was made of cars and other vehicles and whether the existing road network can and will cope with the additional traffic both in the construction stage and afterwards.
