* Historic Environment The executive summary is deficient in that it does not have a separate entry entitled "Looking after our Historic Environment" in a similar mode to "Looking after our Wildlife". The Historic Environment of our district should have a separate entry and not be a small part of item 7. It should read "As part of the Local Plan we need to protect the historic environment. It is important to minimise the effect of development on all historic sites by at least checking proposals

The section entitled "Sevenoaks Vision 2015 – 2035" should include a separate consideration on the green belt. It should be noted that the environment of Hartley has suffered from several nibbles at the green belt as can be seen by examining the statutory maps which have been produced for early development plans. One has to ask whether previous releases of green belt land for housing has been only permitted in exceptional circumstances and whether these releases have had the desired outcome? Is

Objective 2 should be revised to make specific reference to the 'historic' environment to reflect the specific statutory duty to do so (ref. s.16(2) and s.69 Planning (Listed Buildings & Conservation Areas) Act 1990); e.g. "2. Promote well designed, safe places and safeguard and enhance the District's distinctive high quality natural and historic built environments".

Part of the Vision for Sevenoaks on page 13 explains that Green Belt boundaries will only altered in exceptional circumstances. This is a policy rather than a vision. The rest of the Vision is to protect the Green Belt and that protection would continue whether or not the boundaries are altered. Once boundaries are altered, land would be released from the Green Belt and would no longer be subject to Green Belt protection. There is therefore no need to include the possibility of amending the

Dear Sir/Madam I am writing to protest against the extent of Sevenoaks District Council's Draft Local Plan. I hope you read this letter in full. I find it hard to believe that you could conceive of allowing such huge development to be disproportionately concentrated in the area affecting the villages of Halstead, Pratts Bottom, Badgers Mount and Knockholt. Aside from the appalling impact on the environment of your plans - more of which I will detail later - you will also blight the lives of a

In the intersts of brevity I start by saying that I support Policy Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15 & 16 without qualification, and am prepared to accept Policy No. 11.

I should like to congratulate your Team on the extensively detailed analysis and appraisal of the requirements laid on you by Central Government specifically in respect of the Sevenoaks District. Objective 7 is particularly welcome as is the reference to "sustainable development". It would be sensible for Residential Character Area Assessments to be adopted as Supplementary Planning Documents.

The principal need throughout the district is for social rented housing, as defined in the Glossary which curiously does not include a definition of the phrases regularly used in the Plan "affordable housing" and "affordable homes" (see for example paras 5.20 and 5.21). Whilst social rented housing is the most expensive form of affordable housing for a developer to provide, it not only best meets the need of low-income families, but also is the easiest to maintain available for such families in

I believe that empty promises are being made about the local plan. The practical implications of more people brings overcrowding and most certainly much higher numbers if traffic including lorries and service goods and the infrastructure already cannot facilitate the current level of occupants in the community.

People & Housing. Fully support the vision to protect the 'strong local character' and distinctiveness of communities. However, this needs to be restated in the 2nd paragraph of this element of the vision. Proposed wording change - after '....'exceptional circumstances'.' add 'where the local distinctiveness and identify of the settlement will be protected'.
