The entire question of transport, traffic and parking in Sevenoaks is long overdue for an holistic review which should form part of this planning process. It seems likely that the same applies for the other communities in the district.

Draft Local Plan July 2018 A Balanced Strategy for Sustainable Growth in a Constrained District Policy 1 - A Balanced Strategy For Growth in a Constrained District

SDC's draft local plan seems to have been constructed paying far more attention to objectivity and the realities of longer term sustainability in context of infrastructure, economy and character than might have been expected from reading The Town and Country Planning Regulations 2012. We commend SDC for these efforts. While deeming it inappropriate as a Residents Association representing a mere 375 households in a part of the District which is barely effected by the immediate individual proposal

While completely supportive of the need to improve the already overstretched resources in these contexts, we would like to remind SDC of the importance of considering utility provision. This is probably a once in several generations opportunity and for healthy development The District needs more affordable and social housing than ever. This is the one target which should not be reduced. Along with many other policies it should be more rigorously applied.

Draft Local Plan July 2018 Supporting a Vibrant and Balanced Economy Creating Local Jobs and Better Town Centres

Even before this local plan proposal, our towns were already losing their distinctive individual flavours. Local retail facilities impact on the success of leisure resources as well as other local business. Parish Councils have their part to play and there should be a partnership approach between all levels of local government.
