SDC should encourage and support town centre businesses. Car parking charges should not be so high that it means shoppers go 'on line' and not the High Street.

Retail Guidelines The guidelines are for an additional 10,400sqm convenience and 21,700sqm comparison floorspace (para. 6.16). The Plan should explain what this means for development; for example a large out of centre food store or DIY store would be approximately 5,000sqm. Proposed Retail centre allocations para. 6.17 Otford Road Retail Areas (North and South) and the Polhill Garden Centre Seal Parish Council objects to the allocation of the Otford Road Retail Areas (North and South) and th

The AONB Unit supports the protection of community uses as this is consistent with the Kent Downs AONB Management Plan policy VC4 which seeks to support the retention and development of local services to reduce car travel and help maintain viable rural communities. It is also compliant with the secondary purpose of AONB designation which is to take account of the needs of land based and rural industries and the economic and social needs of local communities.

Dunton Green Parish Council is confused by the apparent conflicting policies within the Local Plan whereby a number of sites that currently have a community use are proposed for development for residential purposes within Policy 2 and yet this policy indicates that the loss of local services and facilities will be 'resisted'. How do proposals for sites such as Sevenoaks Hospital, Sevenoaks Community Centre, Swanley Village Nursery or Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital (just a few of the sites with

Policy 14 – Town and local centres Members wish to amend the proposal to remove primary and secondary frontages from the town centre, and suggest primary and secondary frontages are retained as active and transparent shop fronts between Stangrove Road and Mont St Aignan Way, the new 20 mph zone. Members found the term "diversification of tourist attractions" within the criteria for sustainable tourism development (d) difficult to understand and suggest the language be reconsidered.
