Wildernesse Estate Design Statement

Update: 4th October 2018

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on the draft Wildernesse Design Statement. We have considered all the responses and issues raised. As you may be aware, Wildernesse Estate is covered by a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAAMP), which was produced in 2010 and describes the character of the Conservation Area. Sevenoaks District Council currently has a rolling programme of updating older CAAMP documents and ones where there is development pressure. Wildernesse CAAMP will be included in this rolling programme, which would be led by Sevenoaks District Council, and include an estate walkabout with local interested parties and the opportunity to feed into the final document. Like the existing document, the revised document would have a substantial degree of weight, once adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), in any future planning decisions. The existing adopted Wildernesse CAAMP is available to view here https://www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/downloads/file/485/area_appraisal

Village Design Statements are intended to provide guidance for development proposals and to influence the application of the planning system. The Statement provides a context for new development based on local character and sense of place.

The purpose of this Design Statement is to provide and set out the qualities and characteristics of the Wildernesse Conservation Area that shall be maintained and embodied in any developments undertaken by the owners of properties on the Wildernesse Estate.
